Intuitive Art and Crafting Glue Books

Image
Hi everybody, Some of you might know that I sometimes take a break from my regular intuitive art and take up a course or a new craft for a while. This inspires me through storing more images in my mind that will sink to my subconscious and will serve me when I go back to my intuitive work. I recently discovered the concept of a glue book.  Friendship, Spread in Glue Book, Intuitive Mixed Media Art

Chatting about Intuitive Art with Jules Ostara, Artist

Image
Hi everybody, Welcome! Today I would like to introduce you to the wonderful Jules Ostara from the Appalachian Mountains in Blue Ridge, Georgia, in the USA. She is an artist and writer and she agreed to an interview about her work and views on intuitive art, healing through art and being a light-worker. I met Jules on social media and I have been following her for quite some time now. Her artwork is beautiful and I'm quite intrigued by her book that is on my wish list of course. So without further ado, let's meet Jules Ostara! Jules Ostara, Intuitive Artist ***

Mosaic - An Intuitive Mixed Media Painting

Image
Hi everybody, Today, I would like to tell you a bit more about one of my most recent intuitive mixed media paintings called Mosaic . It is both inspired by Antoni Gaudi's Trencadis and Japanese Kintsugi art. Mosaic, Acrylics, Paint Pens and Paper Collage on Paper, 19cm x 28cm, Intuitive Mixed Media Painting I passed though Barcelona while visiting the highlights of Spain in 1995 and immediately fell in love with what I perceived as fairy houses sparkling with subtle colors, designed by an architect named Antoni Gaudi (1852-1926). In 2000 I spent more time in Barcelona while studying Art History and Archaeology at university. The focus of that trip was art and architecture so I got to take a closer look at my magical fairy houses. I was quite surprised that the effect was achieved by cementing together a variety of shapes and colors with little pieces of broken china. This technique that might be centuries old that Gaudi revived is called Trencadis. Gaudi...

Intuitive Art and Creating Fairies and Mermaids with Clay

Image
Hi everybody, This time I would like to tell you something about my more unusual work. As you probably know, intuitive art can be practiced in any medium. About ten years ago I had a period in which I have created a lot with clay. Gosh, time flies. I made little figures of fairies and mermaids and a whole enchanted landscape for them to reside in. Soon my focus switched back to intuitive painting, drawing and mixed media. I created some clay beads for making jewelry later on but after that I completely lost touch with crafting with clay. Sometimes I feel drawn back to it but my frequent moving the last few years hasn't allowed me to assemble my materials back together and set up a space for working with this particular medium. I hope to find the opportunity to get back into it some day. Until then, I thought I would share my creations from the fairy realm. Everything emerged from the same intuitive process as my drawings and paintings. Fairy Realm , Clay, Wood, Wire, St...

Why Not Using Mystical Black in Intuitive Painting?

Image
Hi everybody, In this blog post I would like to share how my attitude towards the color black, technically a neutral or a non-color, changed throughout my life. Consequently this evolution influenced the use of black in my intuitive and spiritual painting and in my artwork in general. I have studied the question over the years and I concluded that the use of black in art is a rather controversial topic, especially in watercolor painting. Some think that black straight out of the tube or pan does not belong in a watercolor painting at all. Others plead for mixing lively blacks and again some people swear by the use of pure lamp black or payne's grey. Although not as often, the question gets also debated in acrylic and oil painting.  Cosmic Dream , Acrylic and Ink on Cradled Birchwood, 20cmx20,5cmx2,5cm, Intuitive Painting ( solid black )
